About TVPCG
Built at the intersection of media technology and academic expertise.
Most virtual production consultants come from one direction — either the technology side or the education side. TVPCG was built by someone who has spent decades on both. The result is a firm that can tell you not just what to build, but how to build it in a way that works for your institution, your budget, and your long-term goals.

Leadership

Justin Allen spent two decades building media technology infrastructure deployed in 75,000 theaters worldwide — and another decade as an executive leader, educator, and academic program developer. TVPCG exists because no one else has done both.
Justin founded Katana Interactive at a time when fewer than five companies in the country could do high-definition post-production work. That foundation led to building a multi-million dollar media facility for Regal CineMedia and developing patented digital cinema technology standards deployed in over 75,000 theaters worldwide. As CEO of Big Screen Digital, built on the infrastructure and relationships developed at Katana, he negotiated partnerships with Universal Studios, Warner Bros., Sony, Dolby, and Barco, among others, secured significant investor commitments, and built infrastructure that powered advertising, entertainment, and live events across more than 75,000 theaters globally. He consulted for ESPN, Fox Sports, and Apple on HD broadcast production, provided digital cinema production services directly to major studios, and was invited to speak before the American Society of Cinematographers in Los Angeles to help the industry understand what the transition to digital was doing to their images.
Justin holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership from UNC Greensboro, a Master of Science in Nursing Informatics from the University of Colorado Anschutz, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Appalachian State University. That career included curriculum design, faculty development, and accreditation work across nursing, simulation, and EMS programs at multiple institutions, including directing a multi-million dollar academic technology complex that housed nursing simulation labs and one of only 15 nationally accredited BS EMS programs in the country.
TVPCG's vendor-neutral guidance is grounded in four years of independent studio development — two completely independent 4K production systems built at personal expense, representing a virtual production pipeline and a fully operational broadcast pipeline. Every major platform was evaluated in a real production environment: Unreal Engine, Pixotope, Zero Density, Aximmetry, Disguise, and more. That hands-on foundation is what allows TVPCG to evaluate technology on its actual merits rather than on vendor relationships or marketing materials. TVPCG was founded in 2025 to bring both careers together. Universities, corporate teams, and independent studios each need something different, but all of them need someone who has actually built what they're being asked to build.
